Board Certification

Why is it important to see a Board Certified Orthodontist?

There are many reasons why patients should seek out a Board Certified Orthodontist. Although any licensed dentist can put on braces, only a Board Certified Orthodontist has results that have been determined to be of the highest quality by the American Board of Orthodontics. Here are some other reasons why:

  1. A Board Certified Orthodontist will have their orthodontic cases reviewed by an expert panel of other Board Certified Orthodontists.
  2. A Board Certified Orthodontist will pass all written, oral, and clinical examinations necessary to become a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
  3. A Board Certified Orthodontist is the highest level of academic achievement an Orthodontist can obtain.
  4. In addition to these examinations, they must submit case studies of patients they have treated with great perfection.
  5. The entire certification process will usually take anywhere from 5 to 10 years.

All of these points are valid but really the choice is simple! By choosing a Board Certified Orthodontist, you are ensuring that you or your child are receiving high-quality orthodontic care.

Becoming Board Certified

To become board certified, our orthodontists had to pass a rigorous set of written and clinical examinations, as well as a comprehensive review of their credentials. The initial process of becoming board certified took seven years. Once certified, they must become recertified every ten years to maintain board-certified status.
